Jerry Allen made a three-pointer with 21 seconds to play to lift Portland to a 69-66 victory over Loyola Marymount on Saturday night at Portland.
Loyola, 7-19 overall and 2-12 in the West Coast Conference, finishes in last place in the WCC and will play first-place Pepperdine next Saturday at the University of San Francisco.
“This game was typical of the way our season has gone,” Loyola Coach John Olive said. “We played hard but just didn’t have enough and Allen made that great shot at the end.”
That put the Pilots ahead, 67-66, and Matt Houle’s free throws with three seconds to play clinched the victory.
The Lions shot 37% from the field and made only one of 17 three-point attempts.
