The Monterey Park Library Foundation is sponsoring a spring dinner to help raise $150,000 for computer systems to organize the library’s 30,000-volume collection.
The city’s Bruggemeyer Memorial Library has more than 200,000 items and is one of the most frequently used public libraries in Southern California, director Jeannette Cheng said.
But the library only has a limited in-house computer system that cannot make on-line data searches. The system cannot search for books by subject.
The dinner is scheduled at 6 p.m. March 4 at Harbor Village Restaurant. Information: (818) 307-1418.
