GIRLS’ SOCCER ROUNDUP : Irvine, Santa Margarita Fit to Be Tied

The Irvine and Santa Margarita girls’ soccer teams remain tied for first in the Sea View League after playing to a 1-1 tie Wednesday at Irvine.
Tiffany Brown scored on a penalty kick with 10 minutes left to tie the score for Santa Margarita (11-2-8, 7-1-3 in league). Irvine (7-1-3 in league) had scored three minutes earlier when Michelle Kennedy put in a rebound of a penalty kick that was blocked by Santa Margarita’s goalkeeper Charlene Eist.
In another Sea View League game:
Woodbridge 3, Newport Harbor 2--Amber Willingham scored the winning goal on a free kick late in the second half for Woodbridge. The Warriors (6-7-5, 3-5-5) had only nine players in the last 10 minutes after two of its key players received red-cards for misconduct. Meggen Fleener and Stacy Gerry scored for Newport Harbor (9-10-1, 4-6-1).
