Holdup of Brinks Depot May Net Rochester Gunmen $10 Million

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Several gunmen in ski masks held up a Brinks Inc. armored car service depot on Tuesday and may have gotten away with as much as $10 million.
The robbers entered the depot, in a small, one-story brick building on the edge of the city shortly before 7:30 p.m., said police Sgt. Sherman Scott.
About 10 people were working there at the time but no one was hurt, Scott said.
He said a “substantial” amount of money was taken. He refused to say exactly how much, or how many people were involved in the heist, but WOKR-TV, quoting an unidentified source, said three gunmen were involved and about $10 million was taken.
The robbers took the money from a secured area in the depot, but not from a safe, Scott said.
He said authorities were also checking reports that one of the depot’s employees was missing.
State police were helping local authorities in the investigation.
The robbery comes a week after $8.27 million was taken in a heist from an armored truck company in New York City.
