Wilbur J. Fix will join the board of directors of Vans Inc., effective Feb. 1. After spending 42 years at Bon Marche, a division of Federated Department Stores, Fix announced his retirement in August. He will serve as chairman of the executive committee and chief executive through January. Vans, based in Orange, manufactures casual shoes and operates retail stores.
