In a victory that should warm weekend skiers everywhere, Miriam Vogt spent Friday night dancing in the streets before skillfully maneuvering an icy downhill course for the first victory of her seven-year World Cup career Saturday at Vail, Colo.
Vogt, 25, of Germany, beat teammate Katrin Gutensohn by .74 seconds.
“Last year, I always concentrated too much on the race,” Vogt said. “Last night, I went street dancing and had fun for a few hours. I forgot everything about the race. I met some nice guys.”
