125-House Project Approved — The City Council last week unanimously approved the 125-house Claremont Hills development.
The ordinance provides 10 years for completion of the project on 125 acres north of Mt. Baldy Road and on both sides of North Padua Avenue.
The city has a two-year option to buy the land for $16.2 million from Pomona College and the Padova Padua company. The agreement calls for 1,220 adjacent hillside acres to remain as a nature preserve.
The city will seek a developer to build homes on the property. Fees from the development of the parcel will be used to maintain the preserve.
