A 31-year-old Pasadena man accused of locking his girlfriend’s father in a car trunk for 12 hours before killing him, then driving the body around for four days, was ordered Wednesday to stand trial for murder in the case.
At a preliminary hearing in Van Nuys Municipal Court, police said that Anthony E. West admitted killing 90-year-old Louie Molduf after the older man threatened to press forgery charges against him.
Investigators said that West locked Molduf in the car trunk after the older man threatened to tell police that West had forged $25,000 worth of checks on Molduf’s account.
West, who was dating Molduf’s 45-year-old daughter, Diane, eventually dumped the body Sept. 18 in a parking lot at Toluca Lake Elementary School in North Hollywood, police said.
After hearing an audiotape in which West admitted killing Molduf, Judge Leslie Dunn ordered West bound over to Superior Court for trial.
If convicted of murder, he could be sentenced to death, prosecutors said.
