Crime is rising and we don’t have enough officers on the street. The April riots should have been a wake-up call for people to help officers fight the war being waged for law and order.
Citizens had an opportunity on the November ballot to help by approving an increase in officers, but they voted it down. Consequently, the city doesn’t have enough money or they can’t find the money at this time to hire more officers.
The answer to this is to have citizens volunteer and join the Police Reserve Corps and augment the regular police officers. The more police officers we have on the streets, the faster their response time. That means the public is better served.
More police reserves really isn’t the solution. We do need more regular officers. But until we can find a solution, if more citizens volunteered, it would certainly alleviate many of the problems the city faces today in law enforcement.
