Glendale : Forums on Props. 161, 166

Verdugo Hills Hospital will present forums on Propositions 161 and 166, which will appear on the November ballot.
Proposition 161, the physician-assisted death in terminal cases initiative, will be discussed Tuesday. Attorney Michael H. White, president of Californians Against Human Suffering and author of the initiative, will speak in favor of the proposition, and Dr. J. Gale Katterhagen will present the argument against.
On Oct. 29, Proposition 166, the basic health care initiative, will be the topic. Dr. Jack McCleary of the Los Angeles County Medical Assn. and the California Medical Assn. will argue in favor. Jim Barber, executive vice president of the Hospital Council of Southern California, will represent the opposition.
Both forums will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the hospital’s council room, 1812 Verdugo Blvd., Glendale. Admission is free, but reservations are required because seating is limited. Information: (818) 952-4666.
