Kidnaping Suspects Appear in Court

SANTA BARBARA — Two suspects in the kidnaping of high school athlete Ryan Curtis made their first court appearance Tuesday to face charges that could send them to prison for life.
Arraignment was delayed until Friday for Eric Alden Panizzon and Jeffrey Real Locas, who are charged with kidnaping for ransom involving bodily harm, a crime punishable by life without possibility of parole.
A third suspect charged, Stephen Gregory Gillen, remains at large. Panizzon was also charged with sexual assault of Curtis, who was abducted Sept. 13 and freed in an FBI-led raid on Saturday.
