Santa Ynez 30, Moorpark 7--Two things remained consistent throughout the Pirates victory: Moorpark (1-2) couldn’t stop Santa Ynez running back Jeremy Spry, and Santa Ynez (1-2) couldn’t make a point-after touchdown--missing all five attempts.
Spry scored on runs of 15, 46, 57 and 25 yards, finishing with 230 yards in 15 carries. Fullback Pat Daly added 70 yards in 13 carries as the Pirates gained 365 yards on the ground. Moorpark ran 22 times for 55 yards.
Spry set the tone early, completing the first drive of the night with a 15-yard run--the Pirates’ 12th consecutive running play.
Moorpark (1-2) countered on its first possession when quarterback Jose Ceja connected with Jason Adamson on a 31-yard scoring pass. Ceja completed eight of 13 for 120 yards and had two interceptions. Adamson caught four passes for 86 yards.
