First American Expands: First American Title Insurance Co. said Thursday that its New York subsidiary has purchased the largest title insurance agency in Manhattan, its second major acquisition in New York City’s central borough this year.
The price was not disclosed.
Facilities and personnel of the newly acquired LTIC Associates Inc. will be melded into First American’s existing Manhattan operations. Privately owned LTIC already had more than 20% of the title insurance market in Manhattan.
Earlier this year, First American acquired Preferred Land Title Services Inc., a Manhattan title insurance agency with a substantial national network and about 10% of the Manhattan market.
First American Title Insurance Co. is the principal subsidiary of Santa Ana-based First American Financial Corp. and is the second-largest title insurer in the nation. It has more than 300 offices and 4,000 agents in 50 states and also provides title services in the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom.
