Copping Elvis

At a recent Hollywood party Social Climes had an epiphany regarding how broad one person’s career can be. Performing was a singer who is an LAPD sergeant by day and a professional Elvis impersonator by night--the ultimate L.A. hyphenate.
We’ll refrain from mentioning his name because he said he’s “kept this kind of quiet.”
However, he was recognized by one patrolman working security for the party who stared at him with that don’t-I-know-you-from-somewhere look.
The sergeant/Elvis does a “Young Elvis” act, in which he wears a black wig--at his day job “I’d have problems with the sideburns.”

Theme Park Trendies
Elizabeth Taylor did Disneyland, and now Kenneth (Babyface) Edmonds is using Universal. The Epic recording artist is having his Saturday wedding reception at Universal Studios in what seems to be a growing trend of celebrities whooping it up at theme parks.
“We wanted to do something fun,” said bride-to-be Tracey McQuarn, co-owner of an L.A. real estate and mortgage company.
Other nuptial tidbits: After 7 will sing during the ceremony in Beverly Hills and DJ Kid Capri will entertain guests at the reception. The couple will honeymoon in Europe.

Calendar Countdown
With 1993 a mere 123 days away, some of you may already be planning which calendar will grace your wall or desk.
Social Climes was amazed at the plethora of theme calendars planned for 1993, which include “The Best (and Funniest) Country Music Lines,” “Victory Secrets of Attila the Hun” and the “Let’s Make Fun of Lawyers” calendar.
Can a “Wally George’s 365 Pithy Epithets” calendar be far behind?
