LAGUNA BEACH : Marine Helicopter Grounded on Bluff
- Share via
A Marine Corps helicopter on a routine flight was temporarily grounded Friday on a bluff at Crystal Cove State Beach when the pilot noticed an emergency light went off, a military official said.
The CH-53 helicopter landed on the bluff at 10:40 a.m. when “the precautionary light went off, signaling there might be a problem,” said spokeswoman Capt. Betsy Sweatt.
The pilot could not detect anything wrong, so the chopper continued its flight to its Tustin Marine Corps Helicopter Air Station destination, Sweatt said.
Crystal Cove State Beach runs along East Coast Highway between Laguna Beach and Corona del Mar.
