The City Council approved establishment of a Youth Advisory Committee to the city’s Human Services Commission.
Ralph Nunez, director of human services, said the committee, which will meet every three months, will have nine members ages 14 to 19. Two will be chosen from each of the city’s three high schools, one will be a member at large and the final two seats will be filled by the youth commissioners on the Human Services Commission.
The teen-agers are most likely to advise the commission on issues such as recreation, substance abuse, graffiti removal and gang awareness, Nunez said.
