The state Senate on Wednesday unanimously approved the appointments of two Orange County residents to statewide agencies.
Ronald L. Cedillos of Huntington Beach won confirmation of his appointment to the California State University Board of Trustees.
Cedillos, 42, served as a member of Peter V. Ueberroth’s California Council on Competitiveness last year and also founded Californians for Aerospace Leadership, a pro-aerospace industry group.
The other gubernatorial appointee, Gus Owen, a prominent Orange County Republican and real estate investor, was approved to serve a six-year term on the state Fish and Game Commission.
Owen, 58, is a longtime property manager and former builder of industrial parks and office buildings. He is also president of the Lincoln Club, a Republican group.
Environmentalists had expressed concern that he would side with developers at the expense of endangered species.
Owen, of Dana Point, said he would spend “as much time with the environmental groups as I do with the building industry.”
