Humana Lays Off 400 in Restructuring Move: Humana Inc. laid off 400 administrative employees in an effort to trim overhead to cope with low volume in its hospitals and health plans. The layoffs, all at the company’s corporate offices in Louisville, Ky., came as Humana announced creation of three new service companies. One of the companies will provide services related to physician and nurse recruitment and retention. The others will offer design and construction services to hospitals and provide technology assessment and management of clinical information services.
