Phan-tastic Milestone: With tonight’s performance, Davis Gaines will become Los Angeles’ longest-running Phantom in the city’s longest-running musical. Gaines will hit 515 “Phantom of the Opera” shows, having first put on the Phantom mask at the Ahmanson Theatre in April, 1991. In the “Phantom” record books, original star Michael Crawford overall has played the role more than 1,000 times on various stages, and Dale Kristien, who stars opposite Gaines at the Ahmanson, is the longest-running Christine anywhere, with some 1,350 shows behind her.
