NICE, France — Four valuable paintings stolen from the villa of a French-Lebanese businessman were found undamaged in a parked car early Tuesday after an anonymous phone tip, investigators said.
The Matisse, Modigliani and two by Degas--with an estimated total value of $50 million--were stolen Friday from Anthony Tannouri’s villa in the southern French resort of Cap d’Ail. He was in Geneva at the time.
The paintings were found in a car in a hotel parking lot near the Nice airport, officials said. They said the art appeared undamaged.
