A Gift From Dolly: Dolly Parton also is making an investment in the future generation. Through her Dollywood Foundation, Parton is providing $500,000 to fund a variety of education programs to benefit the school system and students in her home county of Sevier, Tenn. The amount is the largest ever allocated by the 4-year-old, nonprofit organization. Funding for the foundation’s programs comes primarily from benefit concerts performed by Parton and celebrity guests each spring at the park. Parton set on a mission of improving education in Sevier County and reducing the number of school dropouts when she started Dollywood Foundation in 1988.
