Two people died in a sailing race of the south coast of England when high winds gusted, the coast guard said.
Two men were changing the spinnaker of the 38-foot Sigma yacht Mephisto when the wind blew one of them into the water, where he drowned.
A woman aboard the 30-foot yacht Valdemar was hit by a boom. She died in a helicopter on the way to a hospital. The ships were among 700 competing in the Cowes Week races.
