South Coast Christian Church Plans Celebration
- Share via
South Coast Christian Church in Costa Mesa will celebrate its 38th anniversary on Sunday. Pastor James E. Piercy’s sermon for the morning worship service will be “Called to Attempt the Impossible.” Pastor Piercy served the non-denominational church from 1965 to 1972 and rejoined the church as its pastor two months ago.
Maurice Williams was the first minister of the church in 1954, and Clayton C. Root was the organizing evangelist. Known then as the Victoria Street Church of Christ, the church gradually expanded. The church actively helps the homeless and provided a site for the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen until recently when a better-equipped site was found.
The worship services are at 10:15 a.m. A fellowship banquet is planned for 6 p.m. The church is at 792 Victoria St. Call (714) 548-3468 for information.
