PALMDALE : City Will Lay Off 11 More Workers
- Share via
For the third time in 13 months, the city of Palmdale is laying off employees.
City officials announced Friday that 11 more city workers will lose their jobs and two vacant positions will be eliminated.
They blamed the layoffs of nine full-time employees and two part-time workers on the lingering recession.
As a result, the city expects to save about $522,000 during the coming year.
The cuts reduce the city’s full-time work force to 180.
In all, the city has laid off 30 full-time employees and seven part-time workers, in addition to eliminating 16 vacant jobs since May of last year.
City officials warned that cutbacks looming in the state budget could force further reductions.
