VAN NUYS : Field Deputy Hired for Edelman’s Office
- Share via
Van Nuys resident Kenneth Ashford has been hired as a field deputy for Los Angeles County Supervisor Ed Edelman, specializing on issues and concerns of the east San Fernando Valley.
Ashford, a project director with the Los Angeles Community Development Department, will have offices at the Pacoima Community Center and at Edelman’s district office in Van Nuys.
Edelman had been criticized recently by East Valley activists for not paying enough attention to the poorer areas of his district, which stretches from Malibu to Burbank and includes most of the Valley floor. Edelman inherited the East Valley from Supervisor Mike Antonovich in a 1990 reapportionment. Antonovich had a deputy stationed there for years.
Among Ashford’s related experience are stints as a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of the San Fernando Valley. He graduated from Cal State Northridge with a degree in sociology.
