Claremont : City Can’t Afford Signal

City officials said they can’t afford the $75,000 it would cost to install a traffic signal at the intersection of Indian Hill Boulevard and Vista and Oak Park drives.
Thirty residents attended Tuesday night’s City Council meeting to plead for traffic control at the intersection, and a petition with 590 signatures was submitted to the council.
Proponents said the traffic light would help protect pedestrians, including schoolchildren and children from the nearby Crippled Children’s Society.
The council discussed intermediate traffic control measures, such as placing “No U-turn” signs at the intersection. A decision on an intermediate step is expected in July.
