Pensions

It’s time to put a cap on pensions that are paid for by the taxpayers. We can’t afford to support our school system, but we have money to pay people pensions that can exceed $200,000 a year. It’s obscene to see people retiring with pensions that exceed $50,000 a year. Let’s put a $50,000 limit (indexed for inflation) on any pension funded by the taxpayer, and coordinate it with Social Security benefits. If you can’t live on a $50,000-a-year retirement benefit, fund your own pension plan.
I wonder what percentage of Chief Daryl Gates’ $128,527 annual pension came from his contributions and what percentage is being put on the backs of taxpayers?
