Motorcyclist Dies After Broadsiding Car in Intersection

NEWPORT BEACH — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning when he struck a car broadside at the intersection of Birch and Dove streets, police said.
Neil Nisbet, 25, of Costa Mesa was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center shortly after the 11:09 a.m. accident, said Police Lt. Jim Carson. Nisbet was wearing a helmet but still suffered massive head and internal injuries in the collision, Carson said.
Nisbet was riding his 1986 Honda motorcycle northbound on Birch Street when a 1988 Volvo sedan driven by George Vujovich, 38, of Newport Beach turned left in front of him, Carson said. Vujovich was treated for minor injuries at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and released.
Carson said no charges have been filed but the accident remains under investigation.
