RAMONA : 250 Acres Burn; No Buildings in Danger
- Share via
About 350 firefighters were trying to contain a brush fire that burned more than 250 acres in the Cleveland National Forest about 4 miles north of Ramona, officials said Saturday.
No one was injured and no structures were threatened, according to Norm Machado of the U.S. Forestry Service. A combination of federal and state forestry service firefighters, assisted by two helicopters and three water-dropping aircraft, battled the fire that began about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said.
Strong winds gusting up to 30 m.p.h. spread the fire amid steep terrain, Machado said.
Machado said firefighters hoped to have the fire contained by Sunday. The cause is under investigation.
