BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Yankees Put Barfield on Disabled List

Outfielder Jesse Barfield of the New York Yankees will be sidelined for two weeks after being injured when he slipped in a sauna Saturday night. He was put on the 15-day disabled list Monday, retroactive to Sunday. The Yankees recalled pitcher Jeff Johnson from Columbus of the International League.
Barfield suffered a sprained left wrist and burns on the arm.
The St. Louis Cardinals put outfielder Brian Jordan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring, and recalled utility player Geronimo Pena from triple-A Louisville.
Jordan, a rookie, is hitting .233 with five home runs and 21 RBIs. He was injured making a running catch Friday night.
Right-handed pitcher Edwin Nunez was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Texas Rangers for a player to be named.
Nunez, 29, was 1-1 this season with a 2.63 ERA and no saves in 10 relief appearances covering 13 2/3 innings.
