COMPTON — The office of Community Legal Services, a nonprofit organization that provides legal counseling to low-income individuals, was destroyed by fire during the civil disturbances on April 30. As a result, all files and client information were lost.
The office was handling about 500 cases for low-income residents of Carson, Compton, Cudahy, Hollydale, Huntington Park, Lynwood, Maywood, South Gate, Willowbrook and Walnut Park.
Cases handled by the Compton office have temporarily been transferred to the Norwalk Community Legal Services office at 11550 Rosecrans Ave. Julius Craig Wesson, directing attorney at the Compton center, asks past and present clients to call the Norwalk office at (310) 638-6194 and identify themselves.
