Price Check: Kathy Bronstein, president of Wet Seal Inc. in Irvine, is unhappy about a recent reference to the retail company as a “ ‘women’s discount clothing chain.”
“We are NOT” discounters, she states emphatically in a letter to the Times.
“Wet Seal is a specialty retailer of what securities analysts refer to as ‘moderately priced casual apparel for women,’ ” said Bronstein, who was mentioned in a May 17 article in The Times as one of Orange County’s highest-paid executives.
As for the discount label, Bronstein wrote, it belongs to “the OTHER large Orange County-based retailer.”
That company’s name, probably not breathed too often at Wet Seal’s Irvine office, is apparently Clothestime, which is based in Anaheim.
