Former tennis star Arthur Ashe said he plans to speak out publicly on the issue of AIDS, but will not do so because of pressure from AIDS activist groups.
Ashe, without being specific, said he has been pressured by such organizations since his reluctant disclosure on April 8 that he has AIDS. He said he is still considering what role he should play and added: “High-pressure tactics absolutely will not work on me.”
