University of Texas officials have cleared the way for outfielder Stephen Larkin to play despite his heart condition.
Larkin, 18, and his parents signed a waiver that releases the school from liability if he is injured or dies as a result of the medical problem, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
Larkin, the brother of Cincinnati Red shortstop Barry Larkin, has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, an enlargement of the heart’s walls that restricts blood flow into the pumping chamber.
