UCLA to Play Southwest Missouri

BOULDER, Colo. — The UCLA women’s basketball team, making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament since the 1989-90 season, when they bowed out in the first round, takes on Southwest Missouri State tonight (29-2) in a Midwest Regional semifinal.
Southwest Missouri State (29-2), ranked No. 10 in the nation, have relied largely on their ability to dictate the tempo of the game. The eighth-seeded Bears defeated Kansas, 75-59 in the first round and top-seeded Iowa, 61-60, in overtime to advance to the regional semifinals.
The fifth-seeded Bruins (21-9) have gotten a boost from Rehema Stephens. She has averaged almost 27 points against ranked opponents.
