Construction has begun on a $5-million development of single-family homes and office spaces on the southeast corner of Long Beach and Compton boulevards.
The project, called Impressions, has been touted as a step toward a new, upscale Compton. In about 16 months, developers expect to offer 14 single-family homes, with prices starting at $190,000, and 10 townhouses, with prices starting at $140,000. A 5,400-square-foot office building also will be built on the site, said Gerald Robinson, president of the development company, Robinson & Co. Inc.
Robinson said his firm purchased the 2.3-acre field from the Compton Redevelopment Agency for $510,000.
