Glendale : Auto Row Growth Plan

The Planning Commission on Monday unanimously recommended that the City Council adopt a comprehensive plan to control growth of the city’s auto row along South Brand Boulevard.
Residents and auto dealers say they are unhappy with the compromise recommendation, which comes after months of community meetings conducted by city planners.
The plan would allow dealers to expand their businesses--by building office and storage buildings up to six stories high, for instance--while imposing parking restrictions and landscaping standards to enhance the area.
The recommendation, to go before the council April 7, would apply to a 175-acre area generally bounded by Colorado Street, San Fernando Road, and Central and Glendale avenues.
