COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Mendoza’s Big Day Helps Golden West Beat Saddleback

John Arnold hit a sacrifice fly to cap a two-run rally in the eighth inning for Golden West, which defeated Saddleback, 6-5, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Tuesday.
Ben Mendoza was four for four for the Rustlers (11-9-1, 4-6). Matt Maffei hit a three-run home run, his fifth of the season, for Saddleback (10-9-2, 6-6-1).
In other Orange Empire Conference baseball:
Orange Coast 10, Cypress 5--Orange Coast (11-16, 5-5) scored six unearned runs, three coming during a five-run first in which Cypress (16-11, 5-8) committed four errors.
Riverside 13, Fullerton 6--Jason Diplock had two hits and two RBIs for Fullerton (12-11-1, 5-7). Riverside is 14-7, 7-4.
In Orange Empire Conference softball:
Riverside 4, Cypress 2--Cypress (19-9, 6-2) lost a 2-0 lead when Tanya Brown and Emma Sanchez hit two-run singles in the top of the seventh for visiting Riverside (13-9, 6-2).
