Power to nearly 2,000 residents was disrupted Tuesday afternoon when a car struck a utility pole and downed electrical wires, a spokesman for Southern California Edison Co. said.
The accident occurred at 3:32 p.m. at 9th Street and Chapman Avenue, said Edison spokesman Bob Goodlow. No one was injured, but 1,980 customers were without power until about 4:08 p.m., when utility workers were able to reconnect the wiring.
The area most affected was roughly three square miles around the downed power pole, Goodlow said.
