LANCASTER : Flood-Control Issue Will Go to Voters
- Share via
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday agreed to allow Lancaster to place a proposal for a citywide flood-control district on the June 2 ballot.
The district proposal will be one of two drainage options on the ballot in Lancaster. The other will be a county advisory measure that will ask Antelope Valley residents whether they want to become part of the county flood-control district or form a separate, valleywide district.
During the recent series of storms, many areas of the Antelope Valley flooded, causing residents to complain that their drainage systems were inadequate. In fact, when the county flood-control district was formed, all but a western sliver of the Antelope Valley was excluded because it was largely farmland.
County public works officials have expressed some concern that the two ballot items will prove confusing to Lancaster residents.
