Does being a lawyer for someone who is committing fraud free the lawyer from being an accessory after the fact?

When lawyers work for someone they have reason to believe is committing a felony, shouldn’t the lawyers break free from that relationship rather than persist in promoting the interests of that person? If not legally a requirement, wouldn’t prudent ethics require such action?
