Democratic members of the state Legislature from the San Fernando Valley were strong supporters of environmental legislation last year, while Republicans generally gave little backing to such bills, a San Francisco-based ecology group said.
Democratic Assemblymen Terry B. Friedman and Burt Margolin, whose Los Angeles districts include parts of the Valley, received perfect scores of 100 from the California League of Conservation Voters, which ranks lawmakers’ votes on pro-environment legislation yearly.
GOP Assemblyman Phillip Wyman of Tehachapi, who represents part of the Antelope Valley, received a score of 0--the lowest of any Valley-area lawmaker.
Retiring state Sen. Ed Davis of Santa Clarita, long one of the most pro-environment Republicans in the Legislature’s upper house, topped all GOP senators with a 71.
Senate Democratic leader David A. Roberti of Los Angeles, who is running in a Valley district this year, scored 91. Republican Assemblyman Tom McClintock of Thousand Oaks, a candidate for Congress in a district that includes the southwestern Valley, received a 4.
