New Owner: Quadtel Corp., a computer components and software maker in Costa Mesa, has been acquired by Phoenix Technologies Ltd. for 1.3 million shares of stock, or about $12 million, the companies announced Monday.
Phoenix Technologies, a Norwood, Mass., maker of hardware and software for personal computers and printers, will operate Quadtel as an independent subsidiary.
Both companies manufacture products that are sold under the brand names of other computer companies. Quadtel’s 30 employees will remain in Costa Mesa, said Scott Daniel, a company spokesman.
