Kerr Sells Glass Container Business: Kerr Glass Manufacturing Corp. has completed the sale of its commercial glass container business to Ball Corp. for $68 million. Los Angeles-based Kerr said the money will help it pare down debt. In addition to purchasing Kerr’s glass container manufacturing facilities in Plainfield, Ill., and Sand Springs, Okla., Ball leased Kerr facilities in Santa Ana and Dunkirk, Ind. It may buy the facilities later, Kerr said. Chairman Roger W. Norian said the sale of the glass container business will enable Kerr to focus on its plastic packaging, home canning supply and metal crown businesses.
