Perceptronics Gets Order to Make Truck Simulator
- Share via
A joint venture of Perceptronics Inc. and a company called FAAC won a $220,000 order to supply North American Van Lines with a truck simulator that the moving company will use to train and test its drivers.
Although the dollar amount of the order is not large, the sale signals Perceptronics’ effort to transfer its military technology to commercial accounts. Perceptronics, which is in Woodland Hills, mainly makes tank simulators and other military training equipment, as does FAAC, based in Ann Arbor, Mich.
North American, a Fort Wayne, Ind.-based unit of Norfolk Southern Corp., is scheduled to take delivery of the simulator in July and has indicated interest in ordering a second simulator for delivery next year, Perceptronics said.
