MOORPARK : Apartments, Condos to Join in Recycling
- Share via
Moorpark apartment and condominium dwellers will be able to participate in the city’s recycling pickup service beginning in March.
The City Council has approved a plan to enable residents of apartments and condominiums to deposit recyclable materials on the grounds of their housing complexes.
City officials sought to make recycling as convenient as possible for condominium and apartment dwellers because other cities with similar programs have reported low participation, said Mary K. Lindley, assistant to the city manager.
Under the program, residents of the city’s six large multifamily housing complexes will be able to take newspapers, cans, glass and plastic to the same locations where they take their trash.
The existing trash dumpsters will either be replaced by bins with separate compartments for recyclables and garbage, or will be supplemented by additional containers for recyclables.
The city’s trash haulers have been operating a recycling pickup service for residents of single-family houses since last year.
