273 in L.A. Area Cited for Breaking Helmet Law

The California Highway Patrol said it issued 273 citations last month in its Los Angeles patrol area to motorcyclists and passengers for violation of the new mandatory helmet law.
“Most of the motorcycles (in the state) are registered in Los Angeles County,” said CHP Lt. Greg Manuel. Officers issued 206 of the citations to motorcyclists and 73 to passengers, Manuel said. Motorcycle helmet use became mandatory Jan. 1 in California.
