UNITED NATIONS : New World Order?

The heads of state of 15 nations meet Friday in the Security Council to plan the future of the United Nations in the post-Cold War era. The leaders, will call upon Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali to report back by May 1 on how the world organization can increase its role in peacemaking and preventive diplomacy.
They also will reaffirm their commitment to press for full compliance by Iraq of the terms ending the Persian Gulf War.
While the future of the world agency is the centerpiece, the summit will also give Russian President Boris N. Yeltsin a chance for an expanded role in international diplomacy.
