O’Bannon, a 6-foot-6 guard, led the Pioneers to three victories last week. He scored 70 points, grabbed 30 rebounds and blocked 10 shots. The first two victories were Suburban League wins over La Mirada and Mayfair. O’Bannon scored 19 points in the 69-38 defeat of La Mirada, and had a game-high 28 points in a 93-52 game against Mayfair. It pushed Artesia’s league winning streak to 39 games. O’Bannon also led the Pioneers to a 72-51 win over Long Beach Poly by scoring 23 points.

Other top performers:

Chris Boyd, a 6-foot-5 center for the Paramount High basketball team, tallied 28 points in a 93-67 loss to Lynwood. It was followed by an off night in which he scored a season-low nine points as Paramount lost to Dominguez, 55-33. Boyd came back with a 33-point, 14-rebound performance to lead his team to a 66-50 victory over Cerritos.

Roberto Gonzalez, a soccer player for Pius X High School of Downey, scored 10 goals in victories over St. Monica and Serra in the Camino Real League. Gonzalez scored six goals in a 7-1 defeat of St. Monica, followed by a four-goal performance in a 7-0 shutout of Serra.
