Body Was Female; Name Uncertain

County medical examiners determined Sunday that a body unearthed in the back yard of a Jamul residence by San Diego County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators was that of a female, but they do not know if the woman was Vickie Valerie Eddington, who disappeared in 1987.
“We’re trying to come up with anything that we can to identify this woman, but so far it’s just a Jane Doe,” said Bill Leard, a medical examiner investigator.
The cause of death also remained undetermined Sunday, Leard said.
Eddington disappeared while living with her husband and three children in their house on Beaver Hollow Road, where the body was found Saturday.
Shortly after the discovery, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Leonard Eddington II, who had long been a suspect in the case, was arrested at the house on suspicion of murder.
